Cooking with Mushrooms: From Farm to Skillet

Crispy masa pockets sealed around richly spiced mushrooms, pan-seared and cracked open at the table. A hands-on, one-skillet cooking experience.

Time & Location

Seton Harvest, 9400 New Harmony Rd, Evansville, IN 47720, USA

About the event

Fire-Seared Mushroom Masa Pockets

Tlacoyos Sellados de Hongos al Fuego

This hands-on cooking class centers on one unforgettable dish — crispy, fire-seared masa pockets sealed around deeply savory, birria-spiced mushrooms.

You’ll learn how to build bold mushroom flavor in a single skillet, form and seal masa by hand, and pan-sear each pocket until golden. The final moment is the payoff: cracking them open at the table as steam escapes and the mushroom filling is revealed.

This class is designed to be shared — whether you come with a partner, a friend, or on your own. It’s interactive, relaxed, and welcoming, with plenty of time to cook, connect, and enjoy the process together. You won’t be watching a demo; you’ll be shaping, searing, and cooking every step of the way.

Expect comfort food with intention, a finished dish that’s truly filling, and mushroom-forward techniques you can take home and recreate.

To make the evening even more enjoyable, a cash bar will be available, along with non-alcoholic drink options for those who prefer them. Feel free to grab a drink, settle in, and enjoy the experience as you cook.

What to expect

  • A fully hands-on cooking experience

  • One skillet, simple tools, and big flavor

  • Mushroom-forward techniques you can use again

  • A finished dish you’ll sit down and enjoy together

Cooking setup note

This is a shared, hands-on class. Each registration includes one skillet and cooking station. Guests attending together will cook side-by-side at the same skillet, making the dish together from start to finish.

Cooking together is part of the experience and encourages connection, conversation, and shared discovery in the kitchen.

Age note

If anyone in your group will be under 21, please let us know at the time of registration. This helps us plan appropriately for bar service and seating.

*No prior cooking experience needed — just curiosity, a love of mushrooms, and a willingness to get your hands a little messy.
