Gatherings
Woods & Stems exists within a community — not separate from it. Community, to us, isn’t about audience size or engagement metrics.
It’s about sharing knowledge, showing up consistently, and building trust over time.
Education & Sharing
We believe understanding creates better outcomes — not just better products.

That’s why we spend time teaching, explaining, and answering questions, whether through classes, conversations, or written resources. Functional mushrooms can feel confusing, and we don’t believe clarity should be reserved for experts.

Learning is something we do together.
Cooking Classes & Shared Learning
Cooking is one of the most direct ways people connect with mushrooms — through touch, taste, and shared experience.

Our classes are designed to slow things down — to work with mushrooms thoughtfully, ask questions, and learn by doing. They’re less about performance and more about understanding ingredients, technique, and why certain choices matter.

Classes are hands-on, approachable, and rooted in the same values that guide our products: clarity, care, and respect for the ingredient.

Local Roots & Relationships
Our work is shaped by where we are and who we work alongside.

We collaborate with local businesses, growers, and makers, and we prioritize relationships that are built slowly and honestly. Community looks different in every place — for us, it means being present, reliable, and grounded in the people around us.
Fresh Mushrooms, Grown Close to Home
While our focus has shifted toward shelf-stable functional products, we still grow fresh mushrooms as part of our ongoing relationship with food, place, and seasonality.

Our fresh mushrooms are grown in small batches and shared locally through restaurants, special events, and occasional community offerings — not through our online shop.

For us, growing fresh mushrooms isn’t about scale — It’s about staying connected to the craft, the land, and the people we serve.
Care Beyond the Product
Community doesn’t end at the point of sale.

We care about how products are understood, how they’re used, and whether they actually meet the needs people come to them for. Questions are always welcome, and we believe ongoing conversation matters just as much as formulation.

Trust is built through follow-through.
Invitation, Not Expectation
There’s no pressure to participate in any particular way.

Some people learn quietly.
Some ask questions.
Some show up to classes or events.

All of that counts.

Community isn’t something you opt into — it’s something that forms naturally when values align.
Steeped in Community
Woods & Stems is shaped by the people we learn from, work with, and share space with.
We’re grateful for that — and we approach it with care.
